About the service

Mortakaz is an Arabic platform for discovering and voting on Arabic tech products. It helps project owners present their work to an interested audience, and helps visitors follow the tech products being launched across the Arab world.

All of the platform's services are free today, from browsing and voting on projects to adding your own project and publishing its updates. We are working to introduce premium memberships — coming soon, but we will not activate any paid service until we have announced it and clearly set out its details and terms.

Accepting the terms

By using the Mortakaz platform, you acknowledge that you agree to the following terms and undertake to abide by them, so that the experience stays safe and clear for everyone.

The platform currently allows users to sign in through Google, LinkedIn, and GitHub. After registering, a user may be asked to provide certain personal details, such as a job title and profile link, to help maintain credible accounts and high-quality content.

Your responsibilities

The user acknowledges that all the information they provide is accurate and complete, and bears full responsibility for the correctness of that data and for any content published or shared through their account on the platform. They undertake to use Mortakaz within a lawful framework that harms neither the platform nor its users and infringes no party's rights.

By registering on the platform, the user agrees to receive email notifications, including notices that a project has been accepted, requests to provide required details about submitted content, and other notifications intended to improve their experience on the platform.

Content and discussion

The user acknowledges that the Mortakaz platform is an open space for presenting Arabic tech projects of every kind, and that this is not to be taken as the platform endorsing or rejecting any project or published content.

The user further acknowledges that discussion and differences of opinion are welcome, as long as they remain within mutual respect and cause no offence to any party.

The user acknowledges that their interactions on the platform, such as liking project updates, may be visible to other users, as part of encouraging community engagement and transparency within the platform.

The platform's management reserves the right to delete or block any content or comment it considers to contain personal abuse, offensive language, a breach of public decency, or incitement to hatred or discrimination in any form.

The management of Mortakaz likewise reserves the right to delete any project or suspend any account that violates these terms or causes harm to the platform or its users, without prior notice.

Message read receipts

When a message is read on the platform, we record the time it was read and show it to whoever sent it, whether it is a direct message between two members or a message the platform's administration sent as part of a bulk send. Read receipts are always on for every member, and there is no setting that turns them off. We state this so that you know what the other side sees before you send.

Sponsor neutrality and external links

The Mortakaz platform may display the names of sponsors as supporters of the platform, without that having any effect on the content, on the fairness with which projects are displayed, or on the user experience.

The Mortakaz platform also allows project owners to add links to external sites in order to receive optional financial contributions from supporting users. Mortakaz bears no responsibility for these transactions or for any obligations or disputes that may arise from them; the relationship is directly between the user and the project owner through the external platform.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship on Mortakaz is support for the platform. It is not the purchase of advertising space, and it gives the sponsor no influence over the content. Sponsorship today covers displaying the sponsor's logo in the sponsors and supporters section of the platform's pages with a direct link to their website, a mention in the newsletter, the inclusion of their logo in the announcement posts for Mortakaz meetups, and an announcement of their joining through Mortakaz's official accounts.

Sponsorship grants no preference in project ranking, in voting results, or in the acceptance of submitted projects. To arrange sponsorship, write to us at [email protected].

Payments

Mortakaz charges users no fees today. When any paid service becomes available, payments will be carried out through authorized payment processors, and card data will neither pass through Mortakaz servers nor be stored with us.

The Refund and Cancellation Policy sets out the terms governing refunds and subscription cancellations and forms an integral part of these Terms of Use.
